Mural in Los Angeles for Barco Uniforms by Samir Evol
The thousands who drive daily past the intersection of 20th and Wilshire in Santa Monica, the seaside city within the city of Los Angeles, are reminded that for more than 15 million Americans, the risks of working in a pandemic are a daily reality in their jobs on the front lines of healthcare.
Barco Uniforms, which supplies tens of thousands of frontline workers, commissioned local muralist Samir Evol to design and paint “You Bring Hope,” a public thank-you to those who don Barco’s professional wear on the job every day. Samir is an accomplished artist whose portfolio includes murals for brands as widespread as Alaska Airlines, Don Julio tequila, marketing software MailChimp, and the Los Angeles Clippers.
“We wanted a meaningful way to visually express our feelings of gratitude and pay tribute to all Healthcare Heroes," said Peggy Schultz, VP of Corporate Marketing at Barco, referring to the brand's current campaign. "Partnering with Beautify gave us the opportunity to collaborate with a local artist and bring our vision to life in the most beautiful way imaginable. It is truly a gift to be shared by millions, or in this case billions around the globe.”

Samir was still painting when photographers from the Associated Press, LA Times, and Reuters came by. They uploaded photos to Shutterstock and Getty Images. An online campaign by The Pollack Group gathered more than eight billion impressions in ten days for news coverage and video about or mentioning the mural.
Sponsoring a mural, rather than hawking their own products, ties into Barco’s slogan, “Serving those who serve others.” I like to say that there’s a new form of advertising—it’s called doing good.
